Late winter on college campuses can be a less-than-fabulous time. The holidays are way over, midterms are fast approaching, weather can be unpredictable and, not to mention, the agonizing anticipation for spring break that is just around the corner. On days where the weather is teasing us with spring, nothing beats lounging on the quad.
USC’s version of a quad is the Horseshoe. Here, on this beautiful grassy area in the middle of campus, one can find students playing Frisbee, picnicking and just simply hanging out. It’s a great place to go to take a de-stressing break and relax under the sun.
I found this Fashionisto as he was on his way to the long stretch of green. He proves that there is a way of dressing that can be fashionable yet completely comfortable. By wearing a floral print graphic T-shirt — who says a man can’t rock flowers? — under a khaki cargo jacket, he does a perfect job of dressing laid-back and still looking presentable. Tasteful graphic tees can add interest to any outfit. The keyword in the previous sentence is “tasteful.” Too often I see men wear T-shirts with what they think are clever sayings on them. To be honest, your “YOLO” or “Come at Me Bro” shirts are not cute and have got to go. A better alternative to this tacky statement is just to go with a simple pattern just like this emerald tee from Urban Outfitters.
He accessorizes his ensemble with two gold chains and a Mickey Mouse watch. These personal touches are my favorite part. Adding unique items will make any outfit stand out. They also make great conversation starters and who knows, your outfit could help break the ice with people you meet while you’re unwinding on the Horseshoe.
One Simple Change: His cargo jacket is great for a casual day. Replace it with a twill blazer to transform it into an outfit that is more appropriate to give a presentation in class.
