WHAT TO WEAR: Fancy Date Night

What to Wear

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Whether it comes from a sugar rush from all of the chocolate that will be eaten or a chubby baby with wings that hits you with one of his arrows, love is in the air today! Even if you are celebrating Singles’ Awareness day, you have to admit, there is something about the abundance of pink and red that will make you feel just as sappy and romantic as a cheesy Hallmark card.

As February 14th approached, every single item of red and pink clothing I own was tried on. The key to any holiday outfit is to look festive without being tacky — unless you are attending a Christmas sweater party. It would be easy to throw on random items of clothing that are covered in hearts and kisses but a classy put-together look will be sure to impress that “special someone.”

We usually associate Valentine’s Day fashion with cute feminine dresses but this Fashionista breaks the stereotype and puts a rock-inspired spin on her outfit that is perfect for a fancy date night! I’ll be the first one to admit it, I’m slightly — okay, a little more than slightly — obsessed with anything that resembles leather. Her leather-inspired peplum top from Arden B.— I made sure to ask because I need it in my own closet — adds an unexpected edge that I love.

She pairs the top with bright red skinny jeans and a red bubble necklace that adds a pop of color and festivity without being overbearing. She dresses up the outfit with black heels and a bold red lip which makes this Fashionista ready for a romantic night out. By straying away from the girly look that will be seen countless of times today, she doesn’t need the help of cupid to turn heads.

One Simple Change: Her top and heels make this outfit perfect for a dressy dinner. Swap the items for a sweater and a pair of flats to transform this outfit into a casual wear that can be worn to class.
