Well, London Fashion Week left Somerset House in a blazing trail of uniquely-styled glory and took my heart with it. I fell in love with everything about the world’s most avant-garde fashion week: the ridiculous street styles, the quirky people and the magical atmosphere. Sigh. It was a separate realm of beautiful respite and I miss it terribly, but at least I have the dazzling memories. These are the moments I will never forget: getting snapped by Vogue Italia and Harper’s Bazaar Brazil, interviewed by the British Fashion Council and even paid to make a small cameo on the popular British TV series Made in Chelsea! In the whirlwind of camera flashes and flattery, I managed to learn a thing or two about catching street style photographers’ eyes at haute couture events like London Fashion Week.
The Fash Pack was all about neon colors and statement accessories this February. And the cameras ate them all up and came back for seconds. Why? Because bright colors and loud accents photograph extremely well.
This Fashionista can attest to the above statement because shutterbugs followed her every step as she strutted along the cobblestone paths of the BFC Courtyard Show Space. It was hard NOT to notice the style maven since her H&M neon yellow dress managed to shine bright like a diamond (Rihanna was at London Fashion Week!) in a sea of resplendent cloth and designer labels. She adorned the fluorescent dress with a jeweled statement necklace, which gives the otherwise plain dress some décor. Now, I know some people avoid wearing neon because it’s quite difficult to work with color-wise. It is indeed challenging to fuse different colors with neon, but it is not impossible. This Fashionista throws together an alluring color palette into her outfit, so take notes! The teal color in the gems of her necklace match her bowler hat, oversized metallic clutch and astonishing eye makeup. She adds in some silver with her metallic flats and squeezes in some contrast to all the flair with her striking black tights.
Her ensemble is perfect for weekend wear because it ensures second glances at any Saturday festivity. Street style photographers are lurking behind every corner and you never know when one may pop out and snap a photo of you as you’re walking to a party, going to lunch with friends or retail therapy shopping. If your life goal is to become famous on the blogospheres then this outfit is one of your best bets. To emulate this look, buy an electric-colored maxi dress, pair it with a silver metallic blazer and add a black BOY LONDON beanie because beanies are so in right now. Top it off with Jeffrey Campbell Lita Spike Lace-Up Boots and prepare to be papped!
One Simple Change: For colder weather, just toss in a geometric jacket. All the lambent colors in the outerwear will further illuminate the outfit. For more warmth, wrap a scarf around your neck instead of jewelry.
