With skinny jeans and a manicure to match, it’s all about the aubergine for this Fashionista. Her ensemble demonstrates how to wear a rich color right: by keeping the rest of her outfit grounded in blacks and whites, this deep eggplant shade takes center stage. A shearling jacket adds a layer of dimension, and a skull motif scarf stands out against the rest of this ensemble’s solid components.
I couldn’t help but notice this Fashionista’s arm party, and it definitely doesn’t deserve to go unmentioned. She clearly has an affinity for skull motifs — aside from her scarf, she sports several skull bracelets and a ring. These edgy touches offset the preppier pieces of this Fashionista’s outfit, like her Ray-Ban Wayfarers and Chanel flats, for example. It takes skill to dress simultaneously preppy and edgy, but this Fashionista pulls it off with ease!

CollegeFashionista: How have living in Nashville and going to Vanderbilt University influenced your style?
Ellie Hayworth: Living in Nashville and being on campus has definitely broadened my wardrobe. I've grown to love pairing edgier pieces with the classics, and I have found that I mix and match a bunch of elements that I probably would not have if I remained living at home. Some of my new favorite pieces include: studded slippers, biker boots and my new cartilage piercing!
CF: Who are your favorite designers?
EH: Philip Lim, Helmut Lang, Isabel Marant and Alexander Wang to name a few.
CF: What new article of clothing do you hope to add to your closet this season?
EH: I love intense, structured blazers that can be worn day or night; any kind of Helmut Lang outerwear would make my wardrobe this season.
How To: In order to emulate this Fashionista’s flavorful ensemble, I would suggest starting out with these J Brand skinny jeans, which come in a variety of rich hues. A basic white tank offsets a skull motif scarf and neutral ballet flats complement the denim's deep color. If you're hesitant to sport a skull motif, maybe start out with a simple bangle like this Alexander McQueen one.
