LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Class Act

Let's Hear it for the Boys

This Fashionisto knows how to put on a show — a fashion show.

As a clothing, textiles and fashion merchandising major (CTFM), this Fashionisto knows his way around clothes. He has designed for both local and collegiate fashion shows and his everyday wear embodies the essence of a designer.

Despite the fact that he claimed to look like a bum the day I stumbled upon him, we are well aware that his look expresses nothing of the sort.

As a CTFM minor myself, I have run into this Fashionisto on campus a time or two, and he always manages to have a put together and unruffled outcome. However, this day’s outfit was particularly different than his normally chic all black garb.

Nonetheless, this Fashionisto gets an “A” for everyday style. In this outfit, what I find most aesthetically appealing is the effortless cool that is projected from his clothes. The layers appear to be thrown together nonchalantly and somehow still create an enviable result. The easy denim bottom is a perfect selection for a classroom setting and the vintage-appearing loafers cap off his outfit with a signature touch.

Upon talking to him about his shopping habits, I discovered that this Fashionisto enjoys a variety of clothing outlets. His outfit consists of thrifted, new and borrowed pieces (one shirt was his brothers). Variety like this in an outfit really enhances the overall image and creates some dimension in everyday apparel.

Hint: When it comes to layering like this Fashionisto, basics are always best. Look for easy T-shirts and comfortable button-downs for a breezy effect. Keeping the key pieces neutral is also a simple way to build an ensemble.
