My name is Amber Hain and I am a junior studying Apparel, Merchandising and Design and Art and Design Culture at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Being able to study as a cyclone at Iowa State University is fulfilling in more ways than one (not to mention the campus is beautiful!).
My interest in fashion started early on, when I would try to match my big sister’s style. She was constantly annoyed by me trying to dress like her, but she always seemed to know how to look stylish! I then grew to show my own style when I could start picking out my own outfits and styling my own hair. I have always loved shopping—I blame my mother for our monthly shopping trips we would take. We would shop until the stores kicked us out for closing time.
My personal style changes day to day depending on the occasion. For class I love to throw off the cute-yet-comfy vibe, but for a night out I always add in some piece of statement jewelry. One item that you can rarely find me without is a watch. I personally think that a watch is the best kind of arm candy for gals or guys. My closet currently has a wide variety of garments. It ranges from Tolani tunics from Nordstrom to simple scarves from Target.
Even though my interest in fashion is still growing, I strive to learn as much as I can not only through the students on campus, but also by continuing to learn about fashion history and fashion photography. I plan to pursue a career as a creative director in a corporate office. As a Style Guru, I am thoroughly thrilled to interact with people on campus, adapt new trends, expand my photography knowledge and most importantly inspire you with the Iowa State University fashion trends!
