ACCESSORIES REPORT: Red, White And Fabulous

Accessories Report

The Obama’s aren’t the only Americans rocking their red, white and blue this November. Although American attire has always been a part of our pop culture, this fall it seems to be more prevelant than ever. Could it be because it’s the year of new beginnings for our country after recent elections? Perhaps. Another huge factor in this popular trend could be the fact that famous celebrities and fashion icons have been spotted sporting the famous red, white and blue and patriotic prints at various events and hotspot locations. And let’s face it, we all like to dress like stars, as well as wear them.

Speaking of stars, this Fashionisto is showing off his pride with a blue and white striped sweater and star-spangled scarf. His thick-rimmed glasses and blue canvas bag add an extra touch of sophistication to his ensemble making it the ultimate patriotic look for any college student. To top it all off he’s paired his outfit with a genius pair of metallic silver Sperry’s, the perfect shoes for a real All-American look.

Other popular patriotic accessories this season can be worn anywhere from your hair to your back. The most favored of them all is undeniably the printed scarf headband. If you tie it around your head just right it gives you the ultimate “Rosie the Riveter” look. If something more permanent is what you’re after, look for staple pieces that go with practically any outfit. For example, a great flag print bag would be the perfect accessory to carry around with you throughout the day. Large print’s can often be overwhelming though so if you prefer something subtle, find a singular colored bag and tie a contrasting color scarf around the handle, say red and blue, and that should do the trick as well. If prints aren’t really your thing, incorporating more red, white and blue into your outfit with accessories, which will still give you the same look without overpowering. Also, a little touch of red lipstick wouldn’t hurt either!

This season express yourself and love of our country by letting your pride shine through your wardrobe. Because after all, “we are shaped and fashioned by what we love.”

Spotted: One of our country's biggest fashion icons, Michelle Obama, wore a stunning red recycled Michael Kors dress to the presidential elections this year. She also rocked the patriotic dress at an event in 2009 and again in 2010.
