This week’s Fashionista immediately caught my attention between classes with her unique mix of ‘90s neon blue, ‘60s black frame glasses and a modern top knot that all work together to create an ingenious eclectic look. I’m a big fan of that scholarly-chic look that celebrities like Demi Moore and Brad Goreski pull off so well. Your vision may be 20/20, but these specs are all about the style statement and are such an easy trend for everyone to incorporate into their accessories collection.
Taking bits and pieces from various decades is a great way to keep your wardrobe modern but still vintage-inspired. Vintage pieces and thrift store finds are always easy conversation starters and oftentimes can really make an outfit. Katie’s fashion philosophy is really inspiring with her dislike of labels and admiration for the time period and statement pieces that contribute to her wardrobe.

CollegeFashionista: Where do you get your fashion inspiration?
Katie Brenner: I just like to take little bits and pieces from everything, like magazines and what I see around campus.
CF: Who are some of your favorite designers?
KB: I don’t really like designer names. I like retro and different eras. My favorite is the ‘70s.
CF: What’s your favorite winter weather essential?
KB: Definitely scarves.
How To: Katie’s outfit is a super easy casual look to put together. Start off with a chic top knot and a pair of black frame glasses like this affordable pair from Urban Outfitters. I was able to find an inexpensive neon blue double breasted coat very similar to the one Katie found at Forever 21. Top the look off with a fabulous pair of knee-high black leather boots, a metallic cross-body and a frayed edge scarf. Ya dig?
