I went to IKEA over the weekend and happened to spot a classmate of mine! We said “Hi” to each other and I happened to notice a bit of a change in her weekend wear, to that of her weekday attire. Instead of jeans, or button downs, she was comfortable with a flare. She looked casual, cute, but still très chic!
I love autumn, back to school colors so I especially love when navy gets paired with other dark hues and blues to complete a monochromatic look. It’s flattering and also in this case, sensible for a long day of shopping. Her bright blue coat is from a thrift store and it splits up the darkness of her purse, boots and dress. Her scarf adds some playful print into the mix. Her boots are Dr. Martens, which I’m glad to say are definitely coming back for a round two, so hopefully an older sibling, parent, or yourself didn’t ditch ‘em from the 90s. If you are looking for a new pair, behold! They come in so many different prints and colors; you’ll be bound to find a pair you’ll love.
If you are itching to get your paws on this look, you’re in luck because American Apparel is known for their wide array of solid colors, so you can try monochromatic outfits in all different shades and colors. Personally, I’d like to see an all purple, 'Prince' inspired look: lavendar tights or plum pants and leather boots and subtle studded jackets, on men and women!
(P.S. Not that an IKEA bag is the perfect accessory, but it is also an awesome (green) way to carry your groceries, or filling up a laundry bag!)
