ACESSORIES REPORT: Beanie Baby

Accessories Report

As soon as the temperature dips below 70 degrees here in Southern California, USC students break out their sweaters, scarves, and leather boots. While 68 degrees might not really be cold enough for winter clothes, us sun-soaked Southern Californian Fashionistas can’t wait to rock all of our favorite fall trends. This Fashionista is no exception, wearing a cozy knit sweater and leather motorcycle boots. Although I don’t normally appreciate white jeans after the summer months have passed, this Fashionista did an excellent job of using them to brighten up an outfit that may have been too warm for an almost-cool day in Southern California.

My favorite part of her outfit, though, is the gray knit beanie from Forever 21. While anyone can look good in a sweater, skinnies and boots, a beanie is an accessory not everyone tries to incorporate into their fall and winter wardrobes. It is, however, a very trendy way to enhance a simple fall look. Spotted on tastemakers like Rihanna and Mary-Kate Olsen, beanies add a great finishing touch to a comfy fall look, or even a dressier ensemble like a shift dress and tights.

I must say that I love the way this Fashionista curled her hair even though she threw on a beanie afterwards. It just goes to show that while this piece may be regarded as an easy fix to a bad hair day, it can also complement perfectly styled locks! So whether you’re looking for a way to add polish to a no-effort T-shirt and leggings look, or if you want to add a casual touch to a glam blazer and jeans, the beanie is the accessory to try in fall 2012.

Spotted: Lacoste’s fall 2012 runway show featured beanies.
