The long-awaited season of cooler weather has finally arrived here in Southern California, and the Fashionistas of fall are bundling up in style. From chunky sweaters to cable-knit scarves, USC’s stylish students rock their favorite trends on the runway that is our beautiful campus. Of course, these cute cold-weather ensembles wouldn’t be complete without the right accessories.
One of my favorite accessory trends for fall is a layered sock. Wear them with knee-high boots, combat boots, or even Mary Jane heels – this accessory is versatile and chic! One never needs to look far in order to find a Fashionista working this trendy piece on campus, and that means there are plenty of opportunities to see it styled every possible way.
I spotted this Fashionista sporting her fall socks underneath knee-high leather riding boots, and I fell in love with her slouchy style. Her chunky grey sweater from NASTY GAL, leggings, and cross earrings paired with the boot and sock combination give her outfit an element of cohesiveness that can easily be overlooked when sauntering to morning classes. I really appreciate the way she looks as though she put so little effort into her comfy cute ensemble, while still maintaining a polished, trendy look.
Layered socks aren’t hard to pull off, and there are so many options when it comes to accessorizing with this trend that a Fashionista really can’t go wrong when incorporating them into a stylish fall look! While I love the sock and boot combination shown off by this Fashionista, I also love seeing all of the other ways layered socks are worn around campus this season. My personal favorite is the thigh-high sock. Paired with a mid-thigh length dress or skirt, this accessory makes legs look sky-high and oh so slim. Much like tights, socks can add a layer of comfort and warmth to a cozy fall outfit while simultaneously lending the look a lot of extra style. That’s why I love layering socks in the fall and winter, and why all you Fashionistas out there should pick up a pair and work them into your favorite cold weather looks!
