My name is Allison Esposito and I am thrilled to be a part of CollegeFashionista’s Style Guru team for the second semester in a row! I am currently a junior at Vanderbilt University studying english and political science, and medicine, health and society. While I am contemplating attending law school after I graduate, the fashion world will always remain a large portion of my life. My move to Vanderbilt has allowed me to explore a new environment and culture, both inside and outside of the classroom. As a native New Yorker, moving to the south has done great things to expand my sense of style. One of the biggest changes in my wardrobe was my infatuation with bright colors. This of course led to my attraction and love for the bright and preppy brand, J.Crew.
Although I am in love with the warmer weather in the summer months, I believe that fall and winter clothing are the best seasons, as it allows me to experiment with more colors, textures and items in my closet. In my opinion, the more clothes I am wearing, the more fun it is to assemble an outfit every day.
In the photo of myself, I am sporting some of my absolute favorite winter J.Crew staples. I recently purchased this salmon pink Waffle Crewneck Sweater. It has quickly become one of my go-to tops when I am looking to be super comfortable yet stylish. I even went back to the store a few weeks later to purchase this sweater in other colors because I love it so much. On this chilly day, I chose to pair my favorite sweater with a forest green Excursion Quilted Vest, also from J.Crew. This vest does a fantastic job of keeping me warm without lugging around a coat on those not-so-chilly Nashville winter days. Although this vest is sold out online, I recently spotted it in stock at my local J.Crew store, so make sure you snatch them while they’re still around! If you cannot find this specific vest, do not worry! A super cute alternative is the Authier Tom’s Vest which is also sold on J.Crew’s website. To top off my look, I went with the ultra-popular Bubble Necklace. This necklace is spectacular because it makes a bold statement for practically any outfit, regardless of season.
I have definitely learned a lot about myself through my closet over the years. It is constantly changing to reflect my personality, environment and latest trends. As this year comes to a close, I encourage you all to take a look at your wardrobe. Think of how you can revamp your closet because honestly, fashion is the best reflection of yourself. While the saying “beauty is only skin deep” does not hold true, clothing allows an individual to convey the ideal first impression on the world.
I am eager to start a brand new semester with new experiences and articles to share with you all!
