A great look always includes a great hairstyle. Whether it’s loose waves, a tight up-do or a messy braid, the right hairstyle has a way of balancing out your outfit and pulling everything together. Today’s Fashionista chooses a low side ponytail to go with her lovely ensemble. The sweet ‘do complements the lush, elegant fabrics she’s wearing; it’s a girly style that goes well with the feminine details and warm hues of her outfit.
With all the different pieces in her outfit, I like that she chose a style that neatly sweeps her hair out of her face. The ponytail is a simple but chic look that allows her clothes to shine.
Hairstyle Tabatha Coffey named “perfect ponytails” one of Elle Magazine’s fall 2012 hair trends. But rather than just putting your hair up like you’re going to the gym, she says to “put some effort and styling into the look.” She recommends prepping the hair with a light serum to add shine and then use a flat brush to make it slick. For those annoying bumps and flyaways, Coffey advises to “spray hairspray onto a clean toothbrush and run it over the surface of your ponytail.”
If you’re doing a low side ponytail like today’s Fashionista, you might find that hair will start to fall on the opposite side especially if you have layers. A great solution to secure those short pieces is to pin them up with clips or bobby pins. Since you don’t want to ruin your hairstyle with a bunch of clips (that are most likely old and chipped), you can at least upgrade to an embellished hairpin that will add a unique touch to your look (the girls sitting behind you in class will appreciate it). You can find pretty, handmade bobby pins on Etsy, or you could even DIY some yourself!
