Let’s be honest, the name oxblood sounds pretty ghastly and for me it conjures up images of…well ox’s blood. But gross minded images aside, this is the color of fall. Oxblood has made its debut in all fashion departments from runway couture, to accessories, to ready wear, down to make-up.The color is everywhere and with good reason; It is vampy in the all the right ways, adding both a touch of grunge and glamour to any look. The first thing I noticed about this Fashionista was her lipstick shade. Oxblood lips are definitely my new favorite beauty trend for the fall.
I admire this Fashionista becuase few girls will brave wearing lipstick every day, and not everyone would be able to pull off a daring color with such ease. Her matte oxblood lip complements her purple-centric outfit nicely. Her cheetah-print round sunglasses are feisty and playful and add overall personality to an already killer outfit.
I’ve searched high and wide for the perfect Oxblood lipsticks and I’m pretty confident that I have found the crème de crème. For Fashionistas on a budget, head on over to your local CVS to pick up Revlon’s lip butter in sugar plum. While the name might denote child’s play, this color is anything but. I’ve always been a big fan of Revlon because the colors are fun and easily wearable as well as long-lasting, and the prices just can’t be beat. Next on my list is M.A.C’s classic lipstick in the hang-up shade. M.A.C has long been known as a top dog in the make-up department. I can testify that their lipstick is always creamy and long lasting.
Hellbent is Kat Von D’s take on the sure to be classic Oxblood lip color. The shade is a nice blood red, and is sure to get all admirers bent out of shape. Last but not least is NARS with fire down below. This shade is also in the blood red color family and it goes on with a nice semi-matte satin finish. Whether you are looking for a matte style or high sheen and long lasting color this list has got you covered. Oxblood is the it color for fall. Now go out and be an it girl!
