For those of you lucky enough to take a shower, go to sleep and wake up in the morning with gorgeous, wavy, just got out of bed hair, I speak for everyone when I say that you are the most gifted Fashionistas on the planet. And we all feel the sting of that little green-eyed monster, jealousy.

This Fashionista is one of the lucky ones. When asked how she gets her hair to look so wavy and bouncy, she told me she uses no product. Cue the rage. The good news is that everyone can still have the just got out of bed look even though if it’s not legitimate. We won’t tell if you won’t.

So, you want the look to be messed around and not perfect. Wavy without ringlets. A good way to achieve this look is the gift from the gods product, salt spray. Think about when you’re at the beach, you’ve spent the day getting bronze and taking a dip in the ocean when you’re about to melt. Doesn’t your hair always look perfect and effortless afterwards? Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray is a blogging favorite while Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray is moderately cheaper.

Spray it in your hair before you go to bed, then wake up, run your fingers through it and curl the ends sparingly if you have time. To go with your natural tresses, natural makeup looks best. Just some concealer under the eyes and in any trouble areas, mascara and blush. My favorite blush right now, which is perfect for the season, is Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Plum Wine. The bouncy formula blends into skin easily, doesn’t look too harsh and it’s right on trend with fall’s darker version of burgundy, oxblood.

ALL ABOUT BEAUTY: Natural Beauty

All About Beauty

After reporting on beauty in Madison for several terms now, I can definitely say that the natural look is preferred amongst most Fashionistas in the area. A swipe of mascara, a little lip balm and hair in its natural form is what I see on so many style mavens on a day to day basis. This makes sense since most of us are either relaxing and enjoying the last few days of summer in Madison or busy balancing school, jobs and internships. Who has time for a fully made-up face and perfectly blown out hair?

When I spotted this Fashionista, she looked every bit the natural beauty, but several elements of her look made her stand out. First of all, her pout was perfectly pink; try a tinted lip balm to enhance the color in your lips. Second, her eyes were glowing because she used an iridescent shadow to make them pop. Use a white shimmer on the inner corner of your eyes and your eyebrow bones to make yourself look wide awake. Line the inner rims of your eyes with white eyeliner for even more of a pop on your peepers. This Fashionista lets her hair do its own thing, but you can bring out your natural waves with some sea salt spray. Finish it off with a shine spray to give your hair a glossy look.

An easygoing style is easily expressed with jeans and some layered T-shirts. This Fashionista added some pizazz by piling on some jewelry and throwing on a pair of strappy sandals. And as the temperature is slowly but surely dropping, don’t forget to grab every CollegeFashionista’s essential: a leather jacket.

ALL ABOUT BEAUTY: Natural Beauty

All though we all admire the ornate makeup of high fashion runways or eccentric superstars like Gaga or Katy Perry, sometimes it’s just not practical or achievable to wear these looks on an everyday basis without appearing as overdone. Every Fashionista knows there’s nothing less desirable than a caked-on face! Occasionally is best to remember that less can sometimes be more and allows your own inner beauty to glow though, just look at this naturally beautiful Fashionista! Releasing inner radiance is possible through simple healthy eating, hydration, good lifestyle and a killer skin care routine.

The skin is our largest organ, so a Fashionista must be aware of what she is putting on her skin. Harsh, cheap, chemical-based skin products can sometimes cause more harm that good and for this reason, it may be good to opt for a softer alternative such cleansing milk or essential oils to maintain vibrant radiating skin. Remembering that it’s essential that the face has been exfoliated and cleansed to remove any dead skins cells to creating glowing skin. Regularly exfoliating will help to achieve a luminous glow, however, it’s important to note only to exfoliate only one or twice a week, as over exfoliating can lead to nasty, uninvited breakouts! Some foundations have been known to clog pores and cause unnecessary breakouts. For this reason, it’s nice to let your skin breathe by investing in a tinted moitsturiser or BB cream, containing minerals and vitamins to enhance skin by evening out skin tone. A smart move may be to purchase a base product that has a good SPF factor, as this will battle premature aging by preventing daily sun damage whilst providing coverage for your face. The best of both worlds!

Compliment this look with a naturally flushed lip; use a plum or just bitten red lip tint to create organic sensuous lips. It’s best to find a tint that suits your complexion, as this will provide the most natural effect by highlighting your natural colours, without looking outrageously made up. For fairer skin types it’s desirable to opt for peachy toned tints, whereas for warmer skin types it may be more striking to decide on a red or rich purple stain. Follow the lip stain with a nice moisturising lip balm to rehydrate and protect lips from the harsh elements whilst giving lips a luscious sheen. A sneaky tip is to apply lip balm lightly to the apples of the cheeks to create a healthy looking glow.

Diet is an integral part of maintaining radiating skin; eating healthily can be as simple as regularly eating nourishing fruits and vegetables or eating fresh fish for omega 3. Drinking lots of water is crucial to maintain a radiating glow, as it flushes toxins out from the body so be sure to take in plenty of cool filtered water. Decreasing the amounts off alcohol and caffeinated drinks will prove to be beneficial to your skin and can almost guarantee a healthier complexion. Now you're in the know, good luck getting your glow on.
