ALL ABOUT BEAUTY: Holiday Lips and Tips

All About Beauty

Red lipstick serves so many purposes. It’s the perfect accent to any outfit, it dramatizes your make-up for nighttime and it can perk you up when you’re having “one of those days.” Lately, it’s also just the trick to get you into the holiday spirit. A glam red lip is so festive and appropriate for the season; when you’re bundled in scarves, gloves and hats it’s the one accessory you can flaunt even in the cold.

Today’s 90s-chic Fashionista coordinates her red lip with matching nails. The red really pops against her neutral outfit. She demonstrates my favorite way to do a red lip, which is wearing it with opposite hues so that it really stands out. Some reserve bold lipstick for nighttime occasions only, but this Fashionista proves that you can rock it during the day while still being casual and laid-back.

Her beauty look has another defining aspect, which may be hard to see at first because it blends into her denim jacket. She’s rocking an alternative ombre look with blue ends instead of golden. Want to try the daring 'do but you're afraid of committing to a wild shade? Experiment with temporary color by using Hair Flairs Color Rub. All you do is rub the color onto your hair from small pots of pressed pigment. Speaking from experience, the color turns out well although the aftermath can be quite messy. (If possible, stand in a shower while doing it because the powder may find its way everywhere.)

Lastly, be sure to have a trusty red nail polish on hand. This Fashionista reminds us that it’s the ultimate go-to varnish this holiday. You might even want to treat yourself to Sephora by OPI’s Perfect Reds Set collection. Just like having different versions of the Little Black Dress, you can never have enough shades of red nail polish—you just can’t.
