All About Beauty

Eyeshadow is without a doubt my favorite element of makeup, so when I saw this Fashionista's makeup I literally stopped and stared in awe. Her eyeshadow had three different distinct colors that she arranged beautifully. In the corner of her eye she put gold, then it transitioned to white, and on the top it was a pretty rose gold. She had light foundation and chapstick so that all attention could be drawn to her eyes. What I loved most about this look is how simple yet elegant it was. I love natural colors that pop and these tones complemented her skin so well.

She mentioned that she used her Naked Palette by Urban Decay which can be found at Sephora. This palette is so beautfiul because it has such an amazing range and variety of nude colors that are easily wearable from day to night. There are so many opportunities for great color combinations. If you're interested in creating your own palette of eyeshadow you can do so with Urban Decay or at MAC as well. I love eyeshadow because it really dramatizes your look. Here this Fashionista has on an eclectic and unique outfit, so she chose simple and light eyeshadow to complement her funky getup.

There are so many amazing brands of eyeshadow that range in all prices. Great, affordable eyeshadows can be found by COVERGIRL or Sephora's personal brand. With fall coming around the corner, I prefer darker and more dramatic eyes to complement the attire. Colors that are great right now are shimmery chocolates, plumbs and pretty emeralds, and of course golds and silvers will always make a nice touch.

As the the weather gets colder, that means it's time to play up your makeup and accessories! Just because it's getting colder doesn't mean you can't have fun with your makeup.

All About Beauty

Though I've spotted many a beauty trend on the Syracuse campus, there are always those looks that I see constantly recurring, like bright nails, ombré hair and beach waves. But one of the styles I haven't seen much of is the statement eye. To my chagrin, eyeshadow just does not have many fans here at SU. I guess I can understand that: it can be a hassle to apply, especially when it's so much easier to just grab some mascara and lip gloss and run to class. But as someone who spent most of high school smearing turquoise and purple Urban Decay shadow on my lids to battle a mundane Catholic school uniform, I can’t help but feel a bit sad that I never see ladies embracing the bright statement eye.

While this Fashionista didn’t go with my favorite eggplant-inspired eye (turquoise shadow on the lids, purple smudged underneath), she did incorporate some color on her face with a subtle bronzy-gold shadow, a shade that perfectly complements her tough-meets-girly look. The color is not too saccharine and adds the perfect amount of edge to her polka-dot top and leather moto jacket. If you want to get this Fashionista's look or even go for a bolder style, try Urban Decay's Sustainable Shadow Box. Layer Half Baked over YDK for this Fashionista's subtle style, or combine Flipside and Flash for my signature look.
