In my home state of Pennsylvania there isn’t too much diversity fashion or otherwise. There were a lot of girls with long silky straight hair, but not too many with wild curly hair like mine. When it came to beauty and hair styling I always had a diffiuclt time finding products that worked well. Fast forward to college life in California and I’m no longer the only mixed girl with a curly mane. One of the best things about my campus is the abundance of diversity, which also means a ton of curly-haired girls walking around. I love that there are other curly-haired girls on my campus that can laugh at the same hair mishaps and have similar bad product stories.
As the semester winds down, I realized that I have yet to feature a curly-haired girl on CollegeFashionista. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the first thing I noticed about this Fashionista was her fantastic set of curls. Curls can be unruly and often seem like they have a mind of their own. In order to get beautiful curls like this Fashionista, you have to be willing to experiment with different products until you find the perfect match.
It seems that just yesterday there were almost no products for curly hair but alas those days are long gone. New products are coming out every minute (slight exaggeration) but I know of a few tried and true products that will make your curly locks look divine. For Fashionistas on a budget check out Pantene’s line of hair care designed specifically for curly or wavy hair. Keeping hair properly moisturized is a must and it’s best to deep condition at least once a month. Ms. Jessie’s Rapid Recovery is a perfect once a week conditioner. While you’re on the online site make sure to pick up some curly pudding as well. All of these products will make your head happy and keep your curls looking fresh.
