ALL IN THE DETAILS: Wraps and Stripes

Cold weather is officially upon us, and the wintery conditions now require us to consider both style and warmth while putting outfits together. It’s all too tempting to throw on a sweater and a coat and call it a day, but this Fashionista made sure that her look was both warm enough for a London winter and full of fun details.

Walking around the streets of Westminster, this Fashionista stood out in her bright stripes. The length of this dress is halfway between a knee-length and a maxi dress, which is quickly becoming a trendy new style. The slits up the side and the stretchy sweater material make this dress incredibly easy to walk in. Dressing for winter weather usually brings up images of bulky sweaters and thick coats, but this Fashionista looks very sleek in this full-length, body-con dress. Her secret? Insulated tights and a black turtleneck–proof that layering can be done without making the outfit look chunky.

This Fashionista added plenty of accessories to kick this simple dress up a notch. Her black wrap choker and pendant necklace make a simple neckline much more exciting, and she’s piled on gold bracelets on both of her wrists. Her choice of bracelets that move around easily is no coincidence–this makes it much easier to slide gloves on and off without getting them tangled in her bracelets.

My favorite element of this Fashionista’s outfit is her shoes. These lace-up ballet flats are a major trend this year, and this Fashionista’s tights make them work for winter. The wraps around her ankles coordinate with her wrap necklace, bringing this look together in a subtle way.

The two main lessons from this Fashionista’s look are these: 1) “warm clothes” doesn’t have to equal “bulky clothes,” and 2) one simple detail can coordinate your look from head to toe.
