ALL IN THE DETAILS: Why Not Both?

Taking any fashion risks can be difficult, especially when you try to combine two types of them. A typical rule for outfits when it comes to deciding between taking a risk with colors and prints are simple, only choose one. Usually people go for wearing a pattern for an item of clothing and keeping the rest monochromatic or opting for a statement color instead of a pattern. Luckily, ’tis the season to experiment, and this Fashionista was all about celebrating! Her outfit showcases how to blend both trends in a simple manner, yet can still make everybody’s head turn whenever she walks into a room.

This Fashionista is wearing a striped three-quarter sleeved shirt. The black and light gray colors are very subdued and are perfect to help make the bottoms pop. As for bottoms she decided on jeggings, which are a rich maroon color that is a needed color for the season. Keeping her shoes simple, this Fashionista decided on a pair of simple black flats. As her accessory, she wore a simple pendant necklace; notice two things—the color of the necklace matches her jeggings, and is a different pattern compared to her shirt. The different pattern adds a little more dimension in the outfit.

How To: Having a statement color and a print sounds hard, but it’s actually really easy to do. All you need is a printed shirt in subdued colors, a statement color pair of jeggings and a simple necklace. The only thing you need to worry about is making sure that the statement color goes with the colors on your shirt.
