ALL IN THE DETAILS: Waisted

So many styles and aesthetics can be achieved with just one garment: high-waisted jeans. We’ve seen this item throughout the decades starting in the 1940s when first produced by Levi Brand Jeans for women to work on the land and in factories as a a part of the war effort. Soon it became a very fashionable garment not just for working. And by the 1970s everyone had a pair. The high-waisted jean was a reigning force by the 1980s when GUESS ran an ad that had everyone dying to own a pair. And recently in the last few years we have seen resurgence in the need for high-waisted jeans.

This Fashionista knew exactly what she was doing pairing one fabulous item with another. She did so by pairing a classic burgundy turtle neck with her jeans, and might I add that burgundy is the ultimate color of this fall season. Once you realize the full potential of a high-waisted pant, your outfit possibilities are endless. This Fashionista chose to dress up her jeans and paired her turtleneck with a simple but elegant statement necklace. And I don’t think you need me to tell you but the ankle bootie is and will continue to be an instant classic.

How To: This will be one of your easiest yet classic go-to! First get your hands on a perfect pair of high-waisted jeans, vintage or not, they’ll do the trick. At this point you have a decision to make do you go elegant like this Fashionista? Or do you go for a more grunge look? If your going for a look like this try to find a autumnal colored turtleneck and pair it with your favorite metal. I think that a nice copper would also pair well with a burgundy top. Lastly make sure to throw on your favorite booties!
