ALL IN THE DETAILS: Transform the T-shirt

I was born and raised in South Florida, where the skies are blue (about 50 percent of the time) and the car temperature often reads 100+ degrees. Floridians have mastered the art of dressing lightly. We wear shorts and tank tops for at least half of the year, but that tends to get old eventually. We need to shake it up every once in a while, so this Fashionista grabbed a pair of scissors. This is what she came up with.

The main focus of this Fashionista’s outfit is the cut up T-shirt. Although it sounds simple, the cut out brings an edgy twist on an everyday outfit. The shirt pictured is ideal for college game days, or for the tailgates that come beforehand. The collar left on the T-shirt gives the appearance that you’re wearing a plain black choker. Because she couldn’t find anything like this in store, she cut it herself! Pair it with high-waisted shorts for a slimming effect. High top Converse complete the look.

Want to accessorize? This Fashionista chose to wear a thick gold bangle (she obviously bleeds garnet and gold) like this one! She kept her makeup light and simple, with only a matte lip color and some mascara.  Personally, I love to accessorize with over-sized studs, or a bandana around my neck.

While we wait for the heat to subside, don’t hesitate to wear a simple T-shirt like this one. It may never go out of style, so don’t be afraid to go back to the basics.
