ALL IN THE DETAILS: This Is Not Sparta

As the school year winds down, your social calendar is probably about to fill up. Whether it be Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby or Memorial Day, it seems that May comes with many reasons to celebrate. If you’re like me, parties are just another reason to expand your wardrobe. When the weather starts to warm up, I love adding bold and unexpected pieces to my closet. Winter can be so dull and drab, so I gravitate to any daring fashions that arise in the spring, like this season’s gladiator sandal trend. My outfits are full of fun florals and sweet lace, but I also have to make sure I stock up on all of the other things that complete a look, like jewelry and shoes.

Sometimes the best part of an outfit isn’t the actual clothing, but all of the funky and fun accessories. Statement pieces like chunky necklaces or stacks of bracelets can turn a boring outfit into one you absolutely can’t miss. Shoes are another way to spice up a dull look. Throwing on some striking sandals, like these knee-high gladiators, can completely transform an outfit. Even if your outfit is already pretty bold, gladiator sandals can take it to another level. They’re an unexpected surprise that are taking the fashion world by storm.

Zipped all the way up, these pale gold gladiators are perfectly paired with a pair of soft and sweet cream lace shorts. The shoes add a bit of glimmer to an otherwise matte outfit; every look deserves some sparkle, and this accessory is adding it’s fair share of shine. I love the way this Fashionista rocks her gladiators with a few chunky accessories so as to avoid weighing down the outfit with her shoes. Her lace accents perfectly juxtapose the rigidness of her gladiators, so she is able to rock her fresh, feminine look.

How To: Knee-high gladiators can be a bold move, so if you’re a little timid, try some ankle gladiators. Pair these shoes with a flowy top or dress to pull off the Greek goddess look.
