ALL IN THE DETAILS: The Year of the Bomber

Bomber jackets have taken over the fashion industry. A World War II military jacket once designed for men has transformed into one of the biggest unisex fashion trends of 2016. They’ve become a must have for fall, and they add an edgy vibe to any outfit. With the changing style of bomber jackets, fashion enthusiasts around the world have been building up their collection. Now every time they walk into a clothing store (or open a laptop), they’re bombarded with different styles of bomber jackets.

The Fashionista featured above is wearing a classic, olive green longline bomber jacket paired with a denim shirt, distressed jeans and adidas Superstars. I love the way she put this outfit together because it’s simple, but chic. The denim on denim adds a subtle, but bold feel to the outfit, while the adidas and bomber jacket add an athleisure vibe. I also think this outfit has a very fall vibe to it. Olive green is a color that shows up in fall fashion every year. The bomber jacket pulls in the fall trends and the denim on denim tops it off. The colors of each of these pieces also mix really well together. Nothing is more annoying to me than when an outfit has too many elements that are competing with each other. I think an outfit should contain statement pieces that work well together. I also love the fact that an outfit like this can be worn by both men and women. I’ve seen so many different people wear an outfit like this, and they usually put their own spin on it—but the foundation is always the same.

If you’re thinking about putting this outfit together, but want to put a unique twist on it, I would suggest wearing a longline bomber jacket with patches. If you prefer the short bomber jacket or don’t like patches, I think the velvet bomber jacket would be a great alternative. Since the fabric is so soft and glamorous, it would add a nice contrast to the denim on denim aspect of your outfit.
