If you are anything like me, the moment Labor Day passes, I am anxious to pull out my fall wardrobe and put it to good use. The plaid flannels, heavy boots and knit beanies—I live for my fall wardrobe. And while my heart longs for knitwear, the temperature outside has its own plans. Wearing heavy layers of my favorite fall pieces just isn’t appropriate in the 80-degree weather.
This Fashionista was able to incorporate a major fall trend—velvet—in a seasonally appropriate way. By wearing the rich, heavy velvet as a crop top rather than say a maxi dress or blazer, this Fashionista is able to beat the heat and still look cool as ever. The beautiful navy blue is also a great compromise for this in-between season. It is not as dark as black but still not as quintessentially summer as powder blue.
The styling of the outfit is definitely something to take notice of as well. I can’t get enough of this Fashionista’s super high-waisted jeans and accessories. The body hugging fit of her denim is right on trend and further enhances the ’90s feel of the crop top. The black strappy sandals, simple watch and oversized glasses are all tiny details that add a lot of personality to this Fashionista’s stellar look.
So instead of longing for your fall favorites or wearing them now in the heat, find a fashionable compromise.
How To: Incorporate a great detail or fabric, like velvet, with some of your favorite summer pieces to transition yourself and your style into the new season.
