ALL IN THE DETAILS: That Brown Sugar

Every time I see this Fashionista on campus her outfit is poppin’. I literally don’t think I’ve ever seen this Fashionista on a down day. If she does ever dress down, then she probably still looks better than the rest of us on our best days.

This retro Fashionista knows how to play with the details to create a beautiful work of art known as fashion. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who is so strategic with color placement as this Fashionista. Gold is one of the main metals men and women are rocking in this day and age. At first glance, you may not notice that the button on her denim jeans is gold, but by wearing the gold hoops it helps the eyes focus more on such a small detail. Personally, my favorite detail about the outfit is the black fishnets that are peeking out by showing just a little bit of skin. The black choker ties in well with the black fishnets creating a grunge aura to her retro look. The fishnet has a subtle amount of sexy with the help of the vintage style high waisted jeans and long sleeve crop top.  Notice how the bottom of her jeans are cuffed just enough above her high-tops to show off the fishnets around her ankles. The white on her high-tops compliment the white on the collar of her shirt.

One way I would recreate this look is by making the outfit monochromatic and wearing all black. Black is my go-to color and is the easiest color to pull off. First, I’d buy black vintage jeans and DIY holes in them. Then, I would wear a black crop top with the fishnets underneath. If I wanted to, I would wear colored fishnets to add a dash of flavor. I’d pair the outfit with all black Converse on my feet. My accessories would be rose gold—hoops, rings, and a Guess watch with a thick velvet black choker.
