ALL IN THE DETAILS: Step Into Prints

Summer is officially here and it’s time to free your toes. Flip flops and pedicures are nice, but what about stepping up your footwear? When temperatures peak and the days are long, your days grow busier as invitations for weddings, barbecues and lunch dates keep showing up in your inbox. Dresses and heels are a must-have in your summer wardrobe, but sometimes it’s difficult to freshen up those classic staples.

As Miuccia Prada said, “Craziness in a shoe is great—you can have much more freedom, you can exaggerate and it doesn’t feel stupid. But to have too much craziness near your face, that would just feel weird.”

Prints don’t have to be reserved just for clothing when you’re experimenting with fashion. This Fashionista added printed wedges to her skirt and T-shirt combination of solid colors to add depth to her look. The chambray fabric and simple floral print make the wedges perfect for everyday wear, but they can also be dressed up for formal events. The muted blue complements the pop of her pink skirt perfectly. These are the type of shoes that can make an ordinary outfit eye-catching. Plus, wedges are so comfy!

Wearing printed shoes draws people’s attention from the top of your outfit all the way down to the bottom. Sometimes shoes can get lost in an outfit, but a print naturally draws in the eyes. If you’re going to wear something, then make a statement with it. Prints are always a fun addition to an outfit, but try mixing up where you add them in. Look out for shoes in this summer’s must-have prints: gingham, watercolor and floral. Whatever you do, make sure to step into summer ’16 with some rad footwear.

How To: When sporting printed shoes, keep the rest of your outfit simple. It doesn’t matter if you pair them with pants, a skirt or a dress, as long as the focus doesn’t stray from your feet. Print on print can be risky, but experiment if you’re feeling confident!
