ALL IN THE DETAILS: Skirting Around Spring

After countless cold days, I was excited to see the sun again and to walk without fear of falling; it’s amazing how much your mood improves when you’re not on the lookout for ice. While in class, I thought that this Fashionista’s outfit was particularly fitting for the weather. Some might believe that the first day of spring is March 21, but they are mistaken. Spring starts with the decision to throw on your favorite skirt, and what better way to end winter and celebrate the warming weather than by ditching your jeans?

This Fashionista’s outfit is especially memorable because of the bold pattern on her skirt. The black and white design on the skirt with the primary colored flowers is eye-catching and a real statement piece. A bold skirt is a great investment to make in your wardrobe for spring, you can emphasize its pattern, like this Fashionista did, or you can downplay it. While the skirt may be the focus of this outfit let’s not forget the rest. This Fashionista balances out her look and plays with patterns with her neutral striped top. She also manages to experiment with layers by adding her black suede vest on top of her look. And we can’t forget the jewelry; the necklace adds texture to the look as a result of its feathered shapes, and her bangles and rings add character. Her brown leather boots have a vintage quality to them and tie in perfectly with the rest of the look. Overall the look comes across as bohemian and vintage, and there is no doubt this Fashionista has a unique style worth recreating.

How To: Want to try this look on your campus but it’s still a little cold? No worries. Keep your skirt long just as our Fashionista did and add tights underneath for added warmth. Booties would go nicely with this look or you can opt for knee high boots which are perfect for trekking through snow on campus. Whatever the weather is just don’t let it get you down!
