ALL IN THE DETAILS: Simple Geometry

Don’t worry, I am not here to ask you to find the area of a rectangle or the volume of a cylinder. I’m sure you’ve had enough of that from your classes. I am, however, here to feature how simple geometric shapes can be used to make great fashion statements through handbags, prints and accessories of all kinds. Before this week, I never thought I would be able to use math terms when it comes to fashion because they’re at two different ends of the spectrum when it comes to my interests. Clearly, I was wrong. In this Fashionista’s outfit, the different variations of shapes mixed together helped create a cohesive outfit that looks good in every angle.

Professional button-ups and street style meet in this Fashionista’s grid print shirt dress and I absolutely love it. The grid pattern worked so well in giving off that edgy vibe while still maintaining a clean look. The addition of pieces such as the silver chevron necklace and minimal rings also really complimented the sharp lines of her dress, completing a fashionable geometric puzzle.

To top it all off, this Fashionista really knew how to take fashion risks when it came to geometric styles because she completed her linear-look with a sophisticated wide-brim fedora and some grunge-inspired chunky platforms!

How To: When mixing together different shapes, it’s important that you make sure you have a general theme or look you’re going for. Don’t just throw on a bunch of random prints and patterns and remember to keep it simple.
