Finals is in full swing, which means we are approaching a time where it is okay to wear sweatpants, hoodies and even pajamas on campus. All of our time has to be put into studying and many students forego a healthy amount of sleep by napping in libraries, our Student Center, and anywhere else you could possibly imagine studying. Those who work for our libraries and study centers say not only do students bring their Pillow Pets and snacks, they bring entire water boilers and portable stoves as if they were camping out for the week.
However, there are a handful of students who still have the time to avoid giving into this epidemic. This Fashionista wore a breezy, white summer dress with crochet white tights and mint canvas sneakers. What caught my eye was her belt. Normally, I would pair white with black or white with one or a few colors but this Fashionista used multiple. Her belt’s distressed quality and woven details, that stitched together an array of brightly colored bars, gave an especially bohemian vibe.
When I commented on how cool I thought her belt was, she mentioned how she sewed beads in the back of her dress because she had to alter its straps. Talk about creative and functional! This detail gives her whole outfit nuance and serves as a great finishing touch because it adds a whimsical feel that could take you in many style directions and even act as a conversation starter. Her white, lace bralette gives a girly contrast while enhancing her vibrant color choices.
How to: Break out a white, summer dress and pair it with a fun and colorful statement belt. If these colors are overwhelming for you, start out small with one bold color for summer. If you want to take it further like this Fashionista, take various colors of string or your choice in colored string and thread your desired assortment of beads or buttons. Then, wrap it around you back half of your dress straps to recreate this creative and cool outfit.
