ALL IN THE DETAILS: Shining With Side Splits

Today was one of the hottest days I’ve ever experienced in Charlottesville; it was almost 90 degrees with a 50 percent humidity rate. Since it’s finally feeling like the middle of summer, it’s becoming harder to look stylish while staying calm, cool and collected. My day to day wardrobe usually consists of denim and a loose, flowy top. Though it may seem better to wear less clothing on a hot day, it also helps to keep your fabrics within the cotton family and have them loose, rather than tightly-fitted. The oversized silhouette is not only on trend but will also keep the wind and air moving around and under your clothes. This will help with cooling you dramatically! In addition, I’ve loved lighter colored clothes this summer season. Normally, I’m all about everything being black, but this time around I’m into whites and beiges. Sometimes, I even wear an all-white outfit; though, this is only recommended for the brave hearted and “Tide to Go” pen users.

I spotted this Fashionista returning to her home from the pool and she immediately stood out with her effortless look. She easily beat the heat with her own choice of loose garments. Her outfit featured a striped side split top that hung over her denim cut-offs. This was set off by her silver nose ring and the bright turquoise ring on her hand. Her top was also a non-traditional stripe color with taupe and white stripes rather than black and white, bringing the classic pattern into the summer season in a fun way. Since she was coming back from the pool, I took notice of her hair. Normally, I just throw my hair into a bun after swimming, but hers looked amazing. It was naturally waving from  the water and she had thrown it into a messy ponytail. This awesome effect can even be mimicked with some sea salt spray or beach spray! It’s a nice touch to make your hair look more presentable and cute if you plan on swimming this summer.

Her use of the side split and cute details like her bright, turquoise ring and nose ring kept her look chic and simple while allowing her natural glow to still shine through.

How To: To recreate this look start with an cute top featuring side splits; they open up the top, show a bit of skin and are great for the hot weather! Pair that with a some distressed denim cut-offs and any shoes you like for the same, stylish look this Fashionista is wearing. Fun, colorful rings or even a cute fake nose piercing (if you don’t already have a real one) can make this look even more stylish!
