Across the board, the footwear of choice this summer seems to be the gladiator sandal. Although this is definitely not the first season we’ve seen the strappy shoe, gladiators have spiked in popularity this summer, dominating both the shops and the streets left and right. Now coming in a wide variety of colors and strap heights and styles, the type of gladiator you sport can add an entirely new dimension to your outfit. Knee-high or calf-high gladiators, for example, create a super edgy, trendy look that’s great for those wanting to make a statement. On the other hand, ankle-high gladiators are better for those looking for a more classic, casual look.
Here, our Fashionista sports the latter. I loved her incorporation of the ankle-high gladiator in her laid-back, summer outfit. Her tan sandals fit right in with her casual look, adding the perfect finishing touch to her floral shorts, white crop top and gold statement jewelry. I also really liked how her sandals have a slight heel. Sometimes, its hard for Fashionistas to rock the gladiator without looking completely flat footed or coming off as too masculine. With a small heel, this sandal fixes both of these problems by elevating the foot to give added shape and feminizing it’s appearance.
How to: To imitate this Fashionista’s casual summer look, try out a pair of ankle-high gladiators like Sam Edleman’s “Beck” sandal. If you’re more daring and want to go for a trendier look, go for a pair of knee-high or calf-high gladiators. Pair any type of gladiator with a fun sundress and you’ve got yourself a sassy, summer outfit!
