As I said in my STYLE GURU BIO, I am not an accessory oriented girl. Rings, necklaces and bracelets feel like they’re weighing me down or getting in the way. Without chunky gold and silver, what else is there? How can you make an outfit, well, a little more you without adding the bulk? The answer lies with looking through a lens, or two.

From cat eyed to round, sunglasses can give any outfit a personality of its own. A little wayfarer action can add more of a retro feel. These shades with a leather jacket gives off a look á la 1950’s Sandra Dee (Grease anyone?). This Fashionista’s shades give her outfit an effortlessly cool vibe. The frame shape plays up the bohemian elements

Make sure the focus is all on your shades by adjusting the rest of your look. Putting your hair in a top knot is a perfect way to get your hair away from your face on a hot summer day while keeping all the focus on your glasses. Also, take pointers from this week’s Fashionista and include complementing colors. The lavender from the frames, with the darker shade in the lens, pops the same hue that’s throughout her kimono. It is a perfect way to tie the whole look together.

How To: A little hesitant on wearing a new pair of sunglasses? Take baby steps. Keep your outfit simple and pick between a unique frame shape or lens color and let them be the focus of your outfit. There are tons of different styles out there, look around and find the one that works for you!
