ALL IN THE DETAILS: Recruitment Ready

It’s that time of year again—sorority recruitment. I have been a proud member of Delta Delta Delta for a year now and this was my first time on the other side of recruitment. Though the process was a bit stressful at times, I could not have had more fun bonding with my sisters and getting to know new girls. If you are a fellow sorority girl (shout out to my sisters reading this), you know there is a strict dress code you must adhere to for every day of Formal Recruitment. On this particular day, the girls were told to wear either a navy and white dress with black booties or a navy skirt, white shirt and black booties.

Despite these rather strict rules, my sisters took this dress code and ran with it. It was so cool to see how each of these girls took the same prompt and made it their own by adding different accessories and personal touches. One of my favorites interpretations of this dress code was from this Fashionista.

This Fashionista is wearing a crisscross patterned white crop top over a high-waisted navy blue scalloped skirt. These two pieces work so well together on so many levels. First, if you look closely, you can see that the crisscross pattern in the crop top actually looks like multiple rounded flower petals, complementing the scalloped shapes on the edge of the skirt. Second, the crop top and the skirt meet perfectly at the waist; this keeps the look cool and edgy, but still respectable and classy.

Next are the booties. This Fashionista found a great pair of low-heeled black booties. During recruitment, we must walk up and down the stairs at least 50,000 times and stand for long periods of time, all while being warm and welcoming to the potential new members. Needless to say, a comfortable (and cute) pair of booties are imperative for a sorority girl.

To finish off her look, this Fashionista wore big, circular earrings with a floral print and two statement rings. She kept the jewelry simple yet noticeable, which worked perfectly with the rest of the look.

How To: To recreate this Fashionista’s look, you will need a patterned crop top, a comfortable high-waisted skirt and your favorite pair of cute (and comfortable) booties.
