ALL IN THE DETAILS: Put It In Neutral

July 22nd, 2016 at 2:00am

If you live in any area that experiences warm summer months, you’re no stranger to people breaking out the bright colors and bold patterns as soon as the last bit of snow melts. Even though many think the weather calls for it, not all Fashionistas/os are comfortable rocking neon. While you may be more used to sweating it out in an all-black ensemble, swapping out your black pieces for tan and white ones is an easy way to make your style more summer friendly, while continuing to look understated and cool.

This Fashionista is sporting a simple white tank with distressed, white high-waisted denim shorts, giving the look a fun, beachy feel. The key detail of this outfit is the mauve bralette worn underneath the tank. The color of the bralette pulls the rest of the small details–the burnt orange stitching in the shorts, the emerald beads on the necklace and the dark brown sandals–all together to create a complete outfit. Subtle colors in this outfit keep it from looking too ghostly white and turn it into a cool and casual look.

This monochromatic look is also great for adding as many fun accessories as you want. Because the colors are so muted, you can get away with layering necklaces, bracelets and rings without your outfit looking too busy.

How To: Start off with cozy basics–you can’t go wrong with your favorite distressed jeans (white or light wash works great!) and a simple white T-shirt. Next, pick out your favorite accessories like bralettes, scarves or jewelry. Colors like rosy pink, gold or army green are perfect matching with white or tan pieces to create a laid back look.
