ALL IN THE DETAILS: Prints And Frills

I believe it is safe to say it is officially spring! The temperatures are gradually heating up and most of us are on focused on making it through the last stretch of the semester. I know for me, this means simplifying my looks, as stated in my last article. Time is ticking with our jobs, internships, summer planning and graduations on the way, so finding the perfect outfit on a daily can almost be a little too stressful. Preferably for me, at this point in the semester, I am looking for the easiest, most comfortable look possible before opting to let myself go. Do this by finding your essential pieces, a few versatile accessories, and you’ve got yourself a deal.

I caught up with this Fashionista whose outfit was just the aesthetic I’m speaking about. Aside from her super chic platinum blonde bob, her accessories were what drew me into the look. She started with two staple items: a pair of light washed high-waisted jeans rolled at the cuff and a white crop top. The easy part, done. To make the look more of her own, she added a green plaid duster coat. Plaid, gingham and polka-dot are some of spring’s trends featured on the runways of Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors. To add a girly touch and also keep the look in season with more print, she added polka- dot sneakers with baby doll socks. For completion, she accessorized with several bracelets, including a scrunchie (so chic), and an angel pendant necklace.

How To: Snag the look by keeping it simple. Grab a pair of your favorite jeans and a boyfriend T-shirt or crop top. An oversized cardigan will do, or thrift a duster coat with a cool print. Wear your favorite pair of sneakers, like a nostalgic pair of Keds, or grab your favorite pair of flats. Be sure not to forget the baby doll socks! Accessorize as you like with bangles, layered necklaces, midi rings and/or a choker.
