ALL IN THE DETAILS: Pleats And Pastels

The snow is finally melting, and the sun’s sparkling reflection catches my eye in puddles running down the sidewalk. I look around and see many of my fellow students enjoying the warmer weather and ditching their parkas. Lighter layers replace the dark heavy coats and scarves that kept us warm in the winter. Pastels and neutrals are as light and airy as this Fashionista’s outfit, perfectly appropriate for a sunny, spring day.

This Fashionista is ready for a change of season with a white lace and pleated blouse paired with a light pink cardigan. Her neutral, beige pants and the added layer of the cardigan take into consideration the cooler air that we experience in the transition period from winter to spring. On a cloudless day, the sun may be a bit stronger, making this light cardigan an easily removable layer.

Underneath the cardigan, this Fashionista’s blouse has a fun, airy detail around the shoulders and an elongating pleat down the center of the blouse. The lace pattern gives the blouse a little bit of flair and a feminine touch. The vertically pleated center flows from the neck downwards and is a great example of one technique to elongate the torso.

Lighter pastels and a neutral pant is a great look for spring. But the lace detail and the pleated center of this Fashionista’s blouse have that extra airiness, so that she can fully enjoy the warm spring weather.

How To: Throw a light, pastel cardigan over a white, lace top with a neutral bottom for a great spring look. Pair it with nude flats to keep it simple.
