ALL IN THE DETAILS: Personalized Pewter Pants

Mother nature and Punxsutawney’s famous groundhog, Phil, seem to be on the same page this year as temperature records were broken this past week. Spring has definitely sprung, and this Fashionisto is taking full advantage of the beautiful weather on Lehigh’s campus. While many guys around campus are still sporting their Patagonia fleeces and Timberland boots, this Fashionisto stepped up the style game.

My favorite aspect of this Fashionisto’s look is his muted gray jeans with a personalized knee-rip. These John Varvatos jeans became an even greater buy when he ripped and frayed a slit in his right knee spontaneously. I love that he had the guts to demonstrate his own style and fashion abilities by ripping the denim on his own.

He paired these personalized pewter pants with a Comme des Garçons striped long sleeve T-shirt and Balenciaga sneakers. The color of the shoe elongates the Fashionisto’s legs while the texture contrasts the denim delicately. His gold chains add some shine, while he rounds out his look with a hard-to-find Apple logo hat. Overall, this Fashionisto kills one of his first springtime looks by allowing his personalized denim to steal the show.

How To: Pick a pair of jeans that have little elastane/lycra qualities to personalize. I would choose a straight edge blade to make the initial knee slit. Then, using either sand paper or a Ped Egg (weird, but works like a charm) start distressing using pressure. You can get creative and make them your own. Let them take stage in your outfit by pairing them with a textured top and throw some sneakers on to finish off your personalized look.
