ALL IN THE DETAILS: Olive For The Gold

The fashion world has seen emerald green, mint green, hunter green and even lime green in fashion trends throughout the seasons, but now, there is a new shade on the rise. Olive green has stormed its way into numerous winter collections including those by Tom Ford, KORS Michael Kors and Jason Wu. Olive made its most recent debut in fall collections with camouflage printed jeans and military jackets, and it has taken off since then.

The color is an earth toned essential that can be casual or sophisticated when styled accordingly. While it is technically a cool color on the spectrum, it brings a warm and cozy feel to any winter outfit. In a daytime look, olive is best paired with other soft, neutral earth tones like beige, navy or camel. The same look can be transformed into a nighttime outfit by switching up some of the accents to darker jewel tones or metallic pieces, such as gold. Gold accessories, whether they are dainty or bold, add a much needed kick to an outfit rocking typically muted colors.

How To: This Fashionista’s chic look can be duplicated by starting with a simple, form fitted, olive green sweater dress and black tights. Right now, the look is casual enough to wear to class, work or a lunch date, but adding on a pair of sassy black booties and golden accessories would really spice it up for a more stylish appeal. A glitzy gold pair of earrings and a statement necklace complement the organic olive tone and brighten up the look immensely.
