ALL IN THE DETAILS: Mixing Patterns

There is a place for people who aren’t bold enough to mix patterns but that place isn’t here. This Fashionista mixes chevron, lace, stripes and sparkles all in one daytime look. She is only wearing a casual black lace dress, but the orange chevron scarf she’s paired with it turns it from boring and drab to colorful and fab. She doesn’t stop there, though; this Fashionista is not afraid to be bold. She ties a sparkly gold belt around her waist in a knot, with a stack of gold Alex and Ani bracelets to match and a striped straw sun hat that could make anyone feel like a celebrity. Some would think that this is already too much but she takes it a step further by rocking a pair of nude Vince Camuto heels and a white handbag with a scarf tied around it.

Who knew so many different patterns and textures mixed together could look so chic? What is most unique about her look is her use of a scarf as a shawl. This is an awesome trick to keep in mind during vacation when you’re trying to pack light. It’s a fun accessory that can be paired in different ways to create cool new looks. Being able to reuse an accessory is a trick often forgotten, but a true Fashionista knows just how important it is.

How To: If you are as in love with this look as I am, I know you’re ready to run to your own closet right now and start tying on your favorite scarves in every way, shape and form. Luckily for us, it is that easy! This look may appear difficult but all you have to do is throw the scarf around your shoulders and tie a thin sparkly belt around your waist. Chic fashion has never been so easy!
