ALL IN THE DETAILS: Mix-n-Match

Spring is finally here and, with that, the weather here in Virginia has begun to (slowly) rise to warmer temps. Fashionistas everywhere have started trading in their heavy duty coats, boots and gloves for more lightweight and conformable pieces of clothing, such as dresses!

I’ll be the first to admit that I am a total sucker for a nice springtime dress. Everything from the fit, to the color and cut pulls me in. Dresses are the one item that can be used for any occasion and during any kind of weather. Pair them with rain boots for a rainy spring day, with a nice pair of wedges for brunch or with tights for when the weather just won’t be reaching those warmer 60-degree temperatures.

For a cool spring weekend getaway, this Fashionista paired a navy, loose-fitting dress with black lace floral tights, black combat boots, a black faux leather bomber jacket and a multi-colored scarf. When it comes to details, this Fashionista has got it covered by mixing and matching not only patterns, but also textures. The varying hues between the blue of her dress and the blue of her scarf help bring out the small pops of red.

How To:  Spring is a funny time of year, when cool and breezy morning are followed by scorching afternoons. However, there’s no better time to try out this outfit combination. Pair a faux leather jacket, or cardigan and lace-up boots with your choice of dress. To make it a bit more comfortable, feel free to trade out the boots for flats. This will allow you to get rid of the tights is you are ever feeling just a little too hot throughout the day.
