ALL IN THE DETAILS: Making It Your Own

Recently initiated into one of the two cultural sororities on campus, this Fashionista has a right to walk around campus proud. What really caught my eye was her initiate necklace, which displays her letters and founders’ information of her sorority.

I think it is so cool to be able to wear something that has significance besides the fact that it looks cool. This necklace represents everything she has come to be and the hard work she has put into this organization. Another interesting thing is the uniqueness of the necklace. Being in a college community where there are only a few stores, you tend to see similar clothing and accessories on a lot of people. This refreshing change brings in wooden beads to necklaces breaking the mold of common jewelry. I think this Fashionista does an excellent job of dressing into order to find a complementary look.

Bringing in a different color palette, she starts off the bottom of her outfit with green skinny cargo pants. This is a change up from the basic skinny jean and adds color and a different vibe to the whole outfit. The sides are embellished with pockets and a metallic zipper down the sides of the ankles.

Next, she pairs this pants with a peplum floral tee that is able to give shape under her tan leather bomber jacket. This shirt works perfectly in all aspects with the pants and easily ties together the whole look. On top she wears a leather jacket, which completes her color palette of earth tones. This color scheme is perfect because it enables her to wear her necklace without if looking out of place. Finally, she keeps it simple and practical with a tan ballet flat.

How To: Always be on the look out for a unique piece. Making your own look and style is really in right now. Work on changing up an ordinary look and making it your own by adding unique or one of a kind pieces, and you’re sure to walk the campus in style.
