ALL IN THE DETAILS: Little Gray Riding Hood

East Coast weather is not bad at all! After hot summer days are over, we are spoiled with a couple weeks of magical transition weather before winter hits. During this time, trees paint the town red (and orange), Starbucks’ pumpkin lattes are the everyday special and as our sun dresses are put away, transitional coats come out to play!

Finding the perfect coat for this time of year can be a little tricky, but this Fashionista can most certainly say she has found “the one”. This beautiful J.Crew hooded coat has all of the criteria she wants. It keeps her warm, yet it doesn’t make her uncomfortable when the heater is on. It has a hood (who doesn’t love that), pockets, a zipper and buttons for when you don’t want to zip it completely up.

The color allows for the coat to be worn for different occasions. If you have a transition coat already and are looking for a second one to alternate, it might be smart to go with a bold color. For first-timers however, gray is stylish and easy to combine with neutral and colorful outfits. Knowing that this weather won’t last forever, make sure you leave some wiggle room for when it starts snowing and layering is mandatory!

How To: To pull of the “Little Gray Riding Hood” look, you need a couple of staple pieces that will work for you all season long! A pair of black leather booties that can withstand any type of precipitation (learned that through experience, don’t get suede ones), thick black leggings, black shorts and a small neutral cross-body bag that can be used day and night.
