ALL IN THE DETAILS: Kimonos, Kimo-yes

I am a firm believer that simple articles of clothing carry a great deal of detail when combined with other pieces. Simple patterns and fabric textures are a great combo when wanting to add more detail to an outfit. This Fashionista uses this combination and other detailed pieces and creates a look of her own.

Kimonos have been quite popular over the past few years. They usually have a bunch of bright colors and patterns that are great for the spring and summer time. However, this Fashionista wears an all year round appropriate kimono with details that give this outfit some life. The ribbed fabric on her dress creates texture to her overall look. This texture creates lines down the dress without being too apparent.

This Fashionista took advantage of this warm February day and rocked this outfit across campus. Her burgundy dress is simple, but the mock neck sets it apart from any ordinary dress. The black kimono with white flower detailing doesn’t look too summery and is perfect for a warm winter day. The chunky platform and heel of her black ankle boots give the look an edgy vibe. She completed her outfit with simple accessories: a layered necklace and a pair of tortoise shell sunglasses.

How To: Just add a patterned kimono, sweater or jacket to a plain outfit and finish the look with a pair of shoes that molds to your own unique style! Keep the jewelry and accessories simple so they don’t take attention away from the statement piece.
