Every day when you get dressed, you get an opportunity to reinvent yourself for a day. Think of yourself as a canvas; each day is like starting with a fresh blank canvas every morning when you wake up. You can create the same image you did before or you can experiment and paint a completely new picture. Usually most of us go with a familiar image while making subtle changes from day to day, but some days it’s fun to just go all out and use our canvas to its full potential by creating a detailed story from head to toe. Throwing loud pieces together in one outfit is often something that is discouraged, but when you have the right mix of clothing and accessories, they can fit together like puzzle pieces to create a complete detailed image.
When I spotted this Fashionista, I was immediately excited by her outfit. I instantly picked up on the retro-inspired festival look she was going for and I loved it. She could have easily worn any of these items separately, but they wouldn’t have created as strong of a concept. The combination of all four details is what makes this look a complete visual story. The cropped tank top with crochet detail and the bright printed pants are old school festival staples on their own. Combining them with the cork wedges reinforces the retro vibe. The icing on the cake, of course, is the yellow flower headband. This took the outfit from being retro-inspired to being full on Woodstock ready.
How To: Full body looks like these are not the easiest to wear. If they are not done right, the idea behind the look can end up getting completely lost. The key to making a look like this successful is using details that strongly relate to your concept. For instance, if your going for a Coachella-inspired look, this top from NASTY GAL with these trousers from ASOS. This flower crown would also fit the concept perfectly. Each of these have elements that are strongly associated with this event. When combined, they create the perfect image of what you would see at a festival.
