ALL IN THE DETAILS: Hats Off To Fashion!

Olympia Dukakis’ character in Steel Magnolias said it best: “The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize.” A perfectly positioned hat has always been a go-to accessory when one wants to add that extra oomph to any outfit.

Hats have also been known to define a decade. The ‘20s had the Cloche, Berets were popular in the ‘30s, the Pillbox in the ‘40s and so on. Popular hat styles change rapidly these days, but they always have ties to the styles of the past.

This Fashionista was spotted wearing a cute floral dress by American Rag from Macy’s and opted to top off her outfit with a Panama style, black straw hat from American Eagle Outfitters. The Panama hat became popular in the early 1900s and was typically worn by men. It is currently on the list of women’s hats to wear for spring/summer 2015.

This Fashionista’s hat adds a chic yet casual feel to her entire ensemble. It’s the perfect outfit to wear while traipsing around town and her hat adds a little protection from the hot summer sun as well. She further accessorized her look by stacking her white lokai bracelet with some brown beaded bracelets that she found while wandering through a street market in China.

How To: You might think that you’re not the type that looks RAD in hats, but there’s a style that’s perfect for everyone! To get this look you can pair a solid colored hat with a floral printed dress. Add your favorite sandals and you’ll be good to turn heads wherever you may go.
