ALL IN THE DETAILS: Hats Off to Fall

The best part about the ever-present hat trend is that hats are cool for any season, with fall being no exception. It took me a while to figure out how to properly style a hat because it can be such an intimidating trend. But, no worries, I’m here to let you in on the secret: keep it simple.

This week’s Fashionista’s trendy, black floppy hat is great for fall. Black accessories work well with any outfit, so I would highly recommend it in black. But, then again, a floppy hat in a neutral color would also be super versatile for this season.

This Fashionista paired the hat with a black, short sleeved T-shirt dress. This is a classic choice, especially for this slightly humid Florida weather. By tying a denim shirt around her waist, she added an edgier feel to the look, while also adding a pop of color to the otherwise monotone outfit.

Her distressed gray boots exemplify the look’s edginess. By throwing on patterned socks, she added a personalized twist and also an extra detail to the outfit. Large, rounded sunglasses are also a perfect addition for those sunny walks to class. No matter the season, sunglasses are always a good accessory. Jewelry-wise, her small necklace is necessary to the outfit without being a distraction.

This Fashionista scores a perfect ten from me. By keeping the main pieces basic and solid, onlookers will be able to focus on her cool accessories.

How To: I have good news for all of you aspiring Fashionistas/os: this look is super easy to do. Because the floppy hat is the main focus of the outfit, the rest of the look should be simple. Like this Fashionista, a plain T-shirt dress is the perfect choice to complement the hat.
