ALL IN THE DETAILS: Gimme Those Pom Pom Sneakers

What are some typical winter shoes? Booties, leather boot, rain Boots, duck boots, over-the-knee boots, and many more…

The common word in all these shoes is boots. Snow and fashion have a hard time mingling together. If you want to stay warm and comfy, it requires some sacrifice on your style personality. However, this Fashionista defied the typical footwear for winter. As I was walking to class, I saw this Fashionista walking by piles of snow with Pom Pom sneakers. I thought she was out of her mind due to the low temperatures so, I had to approach her and ask her what her thoughts on ordinary winter boots were. Maria, the sneaker Fashionista, stated, “Boots are winter overrated. Yes, it is a necessity to cover your feet and ankles properly from the snow and cold, but sneakers and good leggings can substitute for boots just fine!” Obviously, these sneakers are not like any other ordinary Adidas, Nike or other brand-recognized sneakers. Pom Pom sneakers have the similar concept of Pom Pom beanies. The pom pom serves as a touch of personality or added accessory to the actual accessory or shoe. I’ve seen these colorful pom poms throughout Mercyhurst campus since last fall. They’ve appeared in the forms of key chains, sandals, backpack accessories, necklaces, small pom poms on hems of shorts and now sneakers, which is a totally new concept.

Maria’s Pom Pom sneakers are definitely a fashion statement for the winter and spring seasons. She paired it up with some black comfy leggings and her black/bronze cut out shirt to give it a pop. To protect from the cold, she wears a clean-cut, knee length black coat with some leather accents on the waist and shoulders. Her whole outfit is very simple and black so the majority of the attention goes to her Pom Pom sneakers, which caught my attention in the first place.

Have you always wanted a fashion piece that screamed authentic and full of personality? Pom Pom sneakers are definitely for you! You can wear them to class, house parties, lunch, coffee dates, and so on… Don’t be afraid to try something new!
