ALL IN THE DETAILS: Fringe Binge

Fringe is one of those perpetual trends that always seems to find it’s way back in style every few years. Which I am all for, because fringe has to be one of the most fun textures to wear. Who doesn’t love to dance around like a flapper shaking some fringe all day long? Fringe typically makes its way back into the fashion scene in the warmer months, and with bohemian vibes ruling this season’s styles, it’s making the ultimate comeback. You saw it all over Coachella this summer, on trend-setters like Gigi Hadid, Vanessa Hudgens and Kendall Jenner. But fringe isn’t just for festivals—as proved by this Fashionista I ran into working the trend on the streets.

This Fashionista had on an amazing black suede fringed jacket which she told me she got at a market in Greece while studying abroad— what an amazing find, right? The fringe ran across the entire back of the jacket and onto the entire length of the sleeve. It came to a draping fold in the front. She went for an all-black-everything look, from the crop top, to the mini cross-body bag, to her booties and wool floppy hat. The focus of her look is really on her daisy-patterned shorts, adding a cute graphic detail to the outfit. The look was finished off with a pair of geometric cutout Quay sunnies. I like how this look wasn’t too busy. It is perfectly balanced with the patterned shorts and all black accessories, allowing the fringe to not be distracted from.

How To: Have fun experimenting with fringe, whether it be on a vest, bag or dress. It’s an easy way to add some fun into your wardrobe. However, when looking for a new fringe item, avoid pieces with too much going on, like fringe and a pattern. This avoids one piece from over powering your outfit or looking too busy. It also makes the item more versatile, to create more looks!
