A busy day of running errands is typical for a weekday. No one likes to do them, but they’re a must. I always run into the issue of whether to dress up or go casual; I tend to make it a bigger ordeal than it actually is. That balance of delicate yet simple can be hard to find. This Fashionista, however, executed it flawlessly.
Recently, ’90s trends have been coming back into style. I like to credit this to Miley Cyrus making Dr. Martens popular again. Wherever the trend came from, I personally hope it’s here to stay and that more pop out of the woodworks. There are the classic grungy looks and the softer, “I just stepped out of a Tommy Hilfiger catalog” looks, both of which I am partial to. When I spotted this Fashionista’s overalls, I realized her outfit was the latter of the two—and I loved every piece of it.
This Fashionista styled her overalls from Hollister Co. so stylishly. They are simultaneously a statement and an understatement. They are incredibly casual, yet a bold piece that haven’t become popular on the streets of Iowa City just yet. This Fashionista paired them with a sporty graphic T-shirt from adidas; it’s the perfect style to keep the focus on her main piece. While her clothing was minimalistic, her accessories added a touch of femininity. Her mint green and black kate spade purse made the ensemble ultra-chic and her thin bracelets from Swarovski complemented her bag. Even her phone case was adorable. This Fashionista could do no wrong.
How To: I would definitely take note of this Fashionista’s styling of the overalls. This pair from Free People looks loose and comfortable, and they come in two different shades. I would go with a more feminine graphic T-shirt to wear underneath. This shirt is the perfect reminder that there’s a Fashionista in everyone. kate spade can be pricey, but this brightly colored cross-body bag is reasonably priced, is a great pop of color and would be worth every penny. I love the simple bracelets this Fashionista wore. This bracelet from Urban Outfitters would be perfect; the boho charms and double band make it the only arm candy you need. This brightly colored phone case gives the illusion of studs, mimicking those on this Fashionista’s phone case. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to relive the fashion trends of our childhood? Overalls are a great way to let your inner ’90s child come out.
